• Restaurant Festival – Sept. 21. Dozens of local restaurants and food trucks on Gay Street. Bite‑sized portions so you can try more than one thing. There is a big crowd every year.
• Homecoming Weekend at West Chester University – Big local weekend. Games, tailgates, stuff for students and families.

The West Chester Halloween Parade

This is the fall event many locals look forward to. If you grew up here, you probably remember going to the parade as a kid. If not, it’s something to plan for. 

What We Know for 2025

• Date & Time: Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
• Change: The parade is moving from its usual Wednesday night to Sunday afternoon. That makes it easier for families to come, avoids weekday rush‑hour traffic.
• Location: Downtown West Chester. The exact route announced by West Chester Parks & Recreation closer to the event.

What You Should Know If You Go

• It draws thousands of people. In 2024, estimates were around 6,000‑8,000 spectators.
• You’ll see the West Chester University marching band, school groups, community groups, floats, and costumes of all kinds.
• It’s festive, loud, and fun for kids. People line both sides of the streets. Many arrive early to get good spots.
• Get there early, especially if you want a good spot on Gay Street or other popular sidewalks. Sidewalks fill up fast.
• Bring folding chairs or blankets. Some parts of the route slow down or stop so you can see better.
• Dress in layers. October weather can swing from warm to cool quickly.
• Parking downtown gets busy. If you can walk or use a nearby parking garage, that helps.
• It’s free to watch. If you want to participate (float, marching group, etc.), registration is through West Chester Parks & Recreation.
